It is standalone and as I said above, you can only export to a few file formats for consumption elsewhere. PL won't understand anything specific about the tool you created the new file in. I'll use this export feature mostly to create my final JPG but also to create a file for export to either something in the Nik Collection or to Topaz Studio. All it can do is Export a PNG/TIF/JPG to some apps or files. PhotoLab doesn't integrate with Nik or anything else really. Get it from where ever and install it separately. They own Nik now but the Collection is a completely separate product. Some but I don't use it this way so that's about all I can say. You point it at a folder on a drive and it will allow you to preview and work with any image in that folder. PL is now the first (and many times the only) editor I use but I don't use it for DAM so I can't really answer much in that area. Is PhotoLab more of a stand-alone item, or does it still benefit from being used together with something like LR, similar to LR+PS combo? I assume this means I will end up with the original RAW + the TIFF, increasing storage space.if included in PhotoLab, does it work the same way? Photoshop also does this when used as an ext editor from LR, is this just the way all ext editors work, since they are non-destructive thus need a way to return the "edits" back to the software you started with? What do most people do in these cases, do you simply delete the RAW and keep the TIFF? Read somewhere that the NIK collection, when used as a plug-in in LR, returns a TIFF only back to LR. Now that DxO owns the NIK collection, is it included in PhotoLab? Does it make sense to download them for LR or just get it with PhotoLab? Trying not to duplicate stuff on my computer if not needed. Recently started considering their software and have checked out their site, but still have a few questions, if someone can help me out.Ĭan it work when your ext drive isn't plugged in, similar to LR's smart previews?Īny organizational/cataloging tools or strictly editing?
